Takaful IKHLAS Sdn Bhd, provider of products and services in Shariah-based financial protection, has won two awards from the Brandlaureate SMEs Chapter Awards 2009.

The awards are for Corporate Branding — Best Brands in Services — Islamic Protection Services; and Best Brands in Product Branding — Best Brands in Services-Healthcare Insurance, which it won for the second consecutive year, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The awards were presented by former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz here recently.

The BrandLaureate Awards, also known as the Grammy Awards for Branding, recognises the best brands from Malaysia and the Asia Pacific, and covers various industries and categories; from multinationals to government-linked and public-listed companies.

Organised by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation, winners are determined based on a stringent 300-point judging criteria which covers brand strategy, brand culture, brand communication, brand equity and performance.

“These two awards are a true reflection of the ‘Malaysia Boleh’ spirit and how much Takaful IKHLAS are capable of achieving in dispersing the Islamic muamalat and the branding of takaful products in Malaysia,” Takaful IKHLAS President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman said in the statement.

“This proves that our products are at par with products from companies that have long been in the takaful as well as the insurance industry,” he said.

Syed Moheeb said Takaful IKHLAS’ products had expanded, and this proved that the products had met with the needs and requirements of the Malaysian people.

He said that during the company’s inception in 2003, it experienced a very challenging growth and transformation phases in the takaful market.

“When approaching the local market, we had to explain the features of products such as the benefits, uniqueness and value-for-money for each plan and protection product.

“We have put in place various plans so that the fundamental roles and responsibilities of Takaful IKHLAS in spreading the Islamic financial system, locally and globally, could be materialised,” he said.

The company has in the previous years won various prestigious awards and recognition, locally and internationally.
