KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) has allocated RM50,000 of its zakat (tithe) fund for flood victims in Pekan, Pahang.

The fund was used to purchase 600 boxes of basic food items and supply of other necessities for the flood victims.

Takaful Malaysia’s group managing director Datuk Hassan Kamil handed over the flood-relief supplies to a representative at the Flood Relief Centre here today.

“We are very concerned that almost 10,000 people had to be evacuated in Pekan alone, being the worst-hit district in Pahang. We hope this contribution will help to ease their burden,” he said in a statement today.

Hassan said reaching out to these flood victims should be a shared responsibility by all, adding that Takaful Malaysa will continue to provide assistance.
