The Minggu Saham Amanah 2009 (MSAM 09) in Johor Baharu in April and the Program Bersama PNB organised by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) in Kuching in May, offered space and ample opportunities for companies as well as banking and financial institutions to reach out to their target groups.

Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd (Takaful IKHLAS), a company offering products and Syariah-based financial protection services for one, made maximum use of the opportunity and platform to implement its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

According to Takaful IKHLAS in a statement here today, in conjunction with the MSAM 09 and Program Bersama PNB, the company had undertaken various activities related to CSR such as a free medical examination and play activities with elements of education, apart from disseminating information on investments and financial planning to the community.

Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd expects to rake a higher premiums of RM80 million in 2010 financial year from RM49.1 million last year with the launch of its Ikhlas Cash Incentive Campaign.

The campaign is for its insurance plans, Ikhlas Takaful Gadaijanji and Ikhlas Takaful Pemilik Rumah, for borrowers from the government’s Housing Loans Division.

Its president/chief executive officer, Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman, said the campaign, first launched in 2007, had received an overwhelming response from the government servants.

Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd (Takaful IKHLAS), which is launching its Ikhlas Hajj Savings takaful here, is eyeing a 25 percent increase in total premiums to RM22 million for its Sarawak operations in the financial year ending March 31, 2010.

Takaful IKHLAS president and chief executive officer Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman said today, the company had achieved RM18.39 million from total premiums of RM588 million nation-wide in the financial year ending March 31 this year compared to RM17.94 in the previous financial year.

“Although the projected growth for Sarawak is 25 percent, which is lower than our previous goal of 40-45 percent, it is still very much commendable, especially in the midst of a financial crisis,” he told Bernama here.

Overall, he said, the Islamic-based insurance and financial services provider, with 87 takaful products, has currently captured 18 percent of the national market share.This placed it third among the eight operators.
