Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd, anak syarikat milik penuh MNRB Holdings Bhd, sedang mengkaji cadangan daripada dua bank di Indonesia yang berminat menjadikannya rakan strategik dalam mengendalikan operasi takaful di republik berkenaan.

Ketua Eksekutifnya Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman berkata, pihaknya sudah menyerahkan cadangan itu kepada lembaga pengarah dan jika dipersetujui, rundingan susulan akan dilakukan.

Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd, the Islamic insurance arm of MNRB Holdings Bhd, is unfazed by new competition from potential takaful players that wish to enter the industry.

“For us, competition drives us or brings innovation,” president and chief executive officer Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman said after the launch of its corporate head office in Bangsar South yesterday.

Syed Moheeb was speaking in response to the Government’s financial sector liberalisation plan that was announced last year, which included the issuance of licences for seven banking and two takaful players from 2009 until 2011.

Datuk Syed Moheeb Syed Kamarulzaman, Takaful Ikhlas Sdn Bhd’s president and chief executive officer was in the midst of unpacking his stuff at the group’s new headquarters in Bangsar South when StarBizWeek caught up with him for this interview.

There were stacks of unopened boxes in one corner of his office and he had yet to decide where the big bookshelf should go.

“We just moved in two days ago, so it is a bit of a mess here,” he apologises.

A small wire art piece in a shape of a motorcycle is tucked in one corner, close to his desk. It turned out to be an ice-breaker as noticing the writer’s glance, he starts talking about his passion for motorbikes, music and marathon.
